The Study of Teachers’ Opinions about the Semester Syllabus of Standard-9th of Gandevi Taluka

Introduction

Secondary and higher secondary Education Board of Gujarat is aware from the new streams challenges. The Syllabus of C.B.C.S.is entered in higher Education level from this syllabus. The system of semester is entered in heights in education level. Students getting the Secondary education will go to the higher education. So, the Secondary and higher Secondary system in Std.9th and Std. 11th has introduced this semester system from the current Year. Which can be considered a revolutionary and welcome step in the education world. The burden of education decreased because of Semester system. It becomes an education without burden in the Sense. The growth of Student’s Creative power will be good. Activity based education is given Semester system.

Semester system is entered in Std.9 in Gandevi Taluka. What do the Secondary teachers think about it? Is semester system welcome by the teachers? Do teachers get confused about the semester system? Does Semester system make nervous to the teacher? Considering all these questions, the researcher tried to do a small research by taking the opinion of the teachers.

Statement of the Problem

The title of the problem selected by the Investigator is as below:
A Study of the teachers’ Opinions about the Semester syllabus of Std.9 of Gandevi Taluka

Objectives of the study

The present research was carried out with the following Objectives:

  • To get Opinions of the teachers about the Semester syllabus in Std.9.
  • To know the confusion of teachers about the semester syllabus.
  • To get the informations about the teachers’ performance regarding the semester syllabus.
  • To know the performance of Students in semester syllabus.
  • To know the information about the students awareness about
the exam in semester syllabus.

Limitation of the study.

  • Present research was limited to the Gandevi Taluka of Navsari Districts.
  • Present research was limited to the semester syllabus of Std.9.
  • Present research was limited to the grant in aid Schools.
  • Present research was limited to the thirty percentage Schools of the Gandevi Taluka.
Population and Sampling

In present research the teachers of total 23 Secondary schools of Gandevi Taluka were the population. From this population, total 30% Secondary Schools means the teachers of 7 secondary Schools were chosen by the method of random sampling.

Construction of the Tool
To collect the data for the present study, the researcher developed an opinionnaire with five point scale with strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree. There were 30 statements in the opinionnaire.

Method of Data collection
The researcher herself visited the schools, by taking the permission from the principals, collected data from teachers. Satisfied co-operation was received from the principals and teachers of secondary schools for data collection

Data Analysis Technique
The researcher has used the statastical techniques like chi-square, percentages and priority ranking for the data analyses.

Finding of the study
  • Syllabus should be completed in time.
  • It is felt that teachers have to do extra work.
  • The more haste has to do because of semester.
  • New method should be developed for the teaching work.
  • It is felt that there is no difficulty in semester system.
  • Students participate in the co curricular activities too.
  • The students get enough Opportunity to do self study.
  • The Grade system has more importance in Evaluation which is a welcome step.
